Peckham Partnership, Southwark

 

calfordseaden were appointed as project coordinator, employer's agent, cost consultant, master programmer, CDM co-ordinator and clerk of works for Peckham Partnership, one of the largest single regeneration schemes in the country.

 

Peckham Partnership was established in 1994 comprising London Borough of Southwark, nine housing associations and two major developers, taking advantage of the single regeneration budget.  calfordseaden were a member of the original board involved in negotiating the development agreement. The Partnership includes the creation of over 2,000 new dwellings. Tenures are mixed between the local authority and registered social landlords for rent, shared ownership and housing for private sale together with a new library and media centre, three parks, a relocated health centre, commercial facilities and a new bus route.

 

The Partnership have addressed a significant number of social degeneration problems, including poor housing standards, lack of local employment and training opportunities, inadequate community facilities, vandalism and poor transport links. Local community involvement was successfully encouraged by the Partnership to increase choice, esteem and ownership in the regeneration. The achievements of Peckham Partnership have been significant. The vision of the Partnership was to transform Peckham into a place where people chose to work, live and visit. This successful programme of renewal and regeneration has been proven to have improved the quality of life for the local communities.
