MHS Homes once again organised a very successful 'Sponsored Sleep Out' this year. The bi-annual event took place on a cold wintry night on Saturday 28 January in the car park of MHS Homes' offices, located alongside the River Medway.
Paul Miller was joined by his wife Anne at the event. On arrival they immediately set about the task of making a home for the night out of cardboard boxes. Applying the best Building Surveyor skills including fixing a rain proof layer, the temporary home was then decorated with a series of spoof captions relating to the Practice's skills. Ashley Hook, Chief Executive MHS Homes was particularly impressed by the claim that the home had been built with "Zero defects".
The challenge comprised sleeping out overnight through to 6am on the Sunday morning. Hot food and drinks were gratefully laid on for the 90+ participants and a few braziers were set up in an effort to keep the biting cold near freezing temperatures at bay. Individuals and groups ranging from the very young through to the elderly turned out for what proved once again to be a very community spirited occasion.
Paul and Anne raised a total of £360 in pledges, which went towards an estimated total in excess of £11,000. Monies raised are being donated to the Homeless Charity "Emmaus Medway" and Alzheimer's Society (MHS Homes' Charity for 2012).
