calfordseaden appoint BIM Manager
07/11/11

--> people/gary_barley.jpgCongratulations to Gary Barley on his recent promotion to BIM Manager.

In May this year the government announced that from 2016 all of their funded projects are to be delivered as a fully collaborated (Level 2) BIM.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a process that allows everyone working on a building project to bi-directionally share the same data via a 3D representation of the building, rather than each discipline replicating the information from scratch. The model is rich with data, allowing anyone to interrogate the model to provide them with a wealth of information that can help with the projects workflow. The model and its contents can be imported into other programmes for environmental analysis, clash detection, bills of quantities, programming and facilities management etc.

calfordseaden have been looking for a long time at the benefits a BIM process can provide to our clients and our own workflows. We now believe the time is right and have put into place the training and investment in hardware and software that will improve our coordinated approach over the coming months.

We are in an enviable position as the collaboration and sharing of information within one company is seamless so we are currently putting into place new procedures that will allow us to get the most value from our BIM workflow. This is an excellent opportunity for calfordseaden and our staff to not only enhance the services we currently offer but to advance into exciting new territories and areas of learning and expertise.
