Continued Work with Birmingham City Council
26/06/08

Furthermore, our Birmingham office's building surveying team have been appointed to undertake full condition surveys of the entire portfolio of 433 school sites managed by Birmingham City Council. Our surveyors are commissioned to carry out a detailed assessment of the condition of each property together with defects diagnosis, in order to inform the Councils Asset Management Strategy. Additionally, our surveyors will be collecting and checking spatial information as part of a re-evaluation of a previous measured survey exercise undertaken by other consultants.

Whilst the survey exercise itself is undertaken on a very traditional approach, all the information is analysed and entered onto an electronic-based bespoke asset management programme, which can be accessed by a wide variety of authorised users, via an intranet.

Following completion of a number of pilot studies in March, the full survey exercise has now started in earnest. This huge undertaking is programmed for completion by October 2009.

This appointment has been awarded following successful completion of a similar exercise on approximately 50 corporate properties owned by the Council and also completion of a similar, but smaller, exercise for the education department some years previously. We are of course naturally pleased to continue consolidating our relationship with Birmingham City Council through this latest initiative.
