The redevelopment of Durand Close by the Lavender Housing Partnership includes the construction of approximately 500 new affordable, shared ownership and private for sale apartments and houses. The redevelopment will also see existing non-residential facilities enhanced and the estate?s natural environment revitalised through new landscaping. This main development is complemented by the development of a number of further associated sites, two of which are already completed with a further five due to start on site over the next coming months. The London Borough of Sutton and Greater London Authority have granted outline planning permission for the redevelopment of the main site, which will need to be carried out in a series of phases in order to facilitate the decant, demolition and redevelopment of existing homes.
The Lavender Housing Partnership was formed in 2003 by bringing together carefully selected companies, including calfordseaden, to work with the London Borough of Sutton, Broomleigh Housing Association and residents to rejuvenate Durand Close.
The provision of a new community centre is crucial to the success of this scheme and is being provided within the first phase of work on the main site. The new centre will provide a pre-school nursery, cafe and various other amenities.
