Bermondsey Spa Update
25/06/08
The regeneration of Bermondsey Spa includes 2,000 new mixed tenure homes, a healthcare centre, a supermarket & other retail outlets, youth facilities, council offices, re-landscaped open spaces, a car-club and secure bicycle spaces.

Over 35% of the new 2,000 homes are being delivered by Hyde Housing Association and include private for sale and affordable apartments, including shared ownership, keyworker and rented accommodation. calfordseaden are acting as project co-ordinator and employer?s agent for Hyde Housing Association on the development of
these 600 new affordable homes, with Site D and Site E-U Phase 1 and 2 currently under construction. Whilst these phases involve the development of a range of mixed tenure apartments and a Primary Care Health Centre, Phases 3 and 4 will include the development
of further apartments a supermarket
and leisure facilities.

In addition, calfordseaden are acting as cost advisors, project programmers, site inspectors, health & safety representatives and technical design appraisers on behalf of Hyde Housing Association.

Hyde and its Partners are championing a number of community initiatives including providing residents with new employment and training opportunities and supporting a local tree planting scheme. The regeneration of this area will continue through to 2011.

The redevelopment of this area has provided space for the extension of Salmon Youth Centre. The centre is already highly successful and is seen as a blueprint for the provision of youth services across the country. This extension includes a state of the art sports centre, music production suite
and an enterprise zone. calfordseaden are acting on behalf of Hyde and Salmon Youth Centre on this redevelopment, which also provides shared ownership apartments through a Section 106 Agreement.
