Linton Mead, Thamesmead

This completed scheme provides 58 one and two bedroomextra-care apartments with specifically fitted out wheelchair units, designed together with a day care and support facilities. calfordseaden were appointed as architects, client representative, cost consultant, BREEAM assessor and CDM coordinator on behalf of Gallions Housing Association.

Situated in the heart of the commercial area of Thamesmead Town, the design is uncompromisingly modern and urban and sits well on its site overlooking a lake, and from the top floor dining room the River Thames. Designed closely with the local authority's urban designer and CABE panel, the scheme includes green and brown roofs, and bio-fuel boilers. The building provides state of the art facilities for the elderly including Smart technologies. Gallions Housing are delivering this scheme in conjunction with London Borough of Greenwich and this is the first project of its type delivered by the Borough. The development has achieved a BREEAM assessment of Excellent.
