Plaw Hatch Close, Bishops Stortford

This £1.9m development comprises 18 units (14 houses and 4 flats) for affordable rent for South Anglia Housing, This site is part of a larger scheme of a 48 unit development located on 11 garage sites throughout Hertfordshire. The phased development of the garage sites identified the requirement for more afforable housing in Bishops Stortford. More information here.

 

Butts Green, Stoke-On-Trent

This scheme lies off Holehouse Road within the North East side of Abbey Hulton Estate, which dates back to the 1930's. A brownfield site that comprised of existing 1960's housing had been earmarked for demolition due to their poor design, layout and lack of flexibility to accommodate different user groups. Sutton House, off Newport Court, Alvaston, Derby

calfordseaden were initially appointed to undertake a feasibility study, to look at a number of alternative uses for this scheme.  The existing site was occupied by an old sheltered housing scheme, which had been unoccupied for a number of years. Calfordseaden looked at a number of option on behalf of our client, Affinity Sutton Group, these included remodelling to a decant homes standard and major remodelling along with complete demolition in order to provide affordable housing on the site. Fieldways, Hawkhurst, Kent

This house achieves Level 5 under the Code for Sustainable Homes, the first in the area. It provides an important insight into what houses of the future may be like and has been designed to be in keeping with the existing homes in the local area. More information here.

 

Midmoor Road, London

Midmoor Road is a pioneering project that shows how a low-energy retrofit can make deep cuts in carbon emissions from social housing. This project has been instrumental in exploring the most appropriate & effective methods of refurbishing street properties to high environmental standards. More information here.

 

Graylingwell Park, Chichester

calfordseaden are appointed to provide employer's agent and technical inspector services  at Graylingwell Park, which will be the UK's largest carbon-neutral development offering around 750 new and converted eco-friendly homes. This scheme has recently won Inside Housing magzine's Sustainable Housing Awards for 'Sustainable Large Social Housing Project of the Year', 'Best Low or Zero Carbon Initiaitve' at the Housebuilder Awards 2010, plus the Royal Town Planning Institute's award for Community Engagement. Foreshore, Pepys Estate, Deptford

This stock transfer scheme comprised two Grade II Listed converted warehouses, split into 64 flats. The works included the internal upgrades of dwellings to Decent Homes Standards, external remedial & refurbishment works together with environmental improvements. More information here.

 

St John's Church, Wembley

The first vicarage in the UK to meet the Government's rigorous Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 is to be built in west London. The flagship development designed by calfordseaden will also provide a new community centre for the Parish Church Council of St John's and 20 affordable homes built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. Cromwell Way, Farnborough

The development of a growing number of sites currently occupied by private garage courts for Pavilion Housing Association is proceeding apace. Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead

Newlon Housing Trust appointed calfordseaden as architect, structural engineer and employer's agent on this £9m development. Working with the London Borough of Camden and developers United House, Newlon Housing Trust's aim was to build new high quality accommodation for hospital staff. More information here. Glebe Road, Stratford

Our Birmingham architects were appointed to redevelop an existing site of 38 Unity Houses built in 1947, set within an existing residential estate on the edge of Stratford Upon Avon.  Structural surveys and cost exercises established that due to corrosion within the precast concrete frames of the houses, refurbishment of the properties was no longer financially viable. Arbury Park, Cambridge

Arbury Park is part of a ten-year project that will see 900 homes built on a site to the North of Cambridge.  calfordseaden's architects have designed on behalf of Places for people the 282 affordable homes, as well as a local centre of shops, offices and business units for Gallagher Estates. Littlemore Baptist Church, Oxford
