COMMUNITY & VOLUNTARY
Finsbury Park Café, London
calfordseaden were appointed as Architects as part of the Finsbury Park £5million Heritage Lottery Funded restoration and improvement programme.
Located in Finsbury Park in North London's Borough of Haringey, this scheme involved the demolition of an existing building and complete new build of an innovative café along with sporting facilities and park toilets.
The design was based on a ships shape with curved ends and porthole windows using the latest technology in sustainable timber cladding that matures with the age of the building but provides a long-term maintenance free period.
The design not only brought the outside into the building but also created a building that fitted into the existing landscape surrounding it.
In recognition of the transformation the Park was awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in 2007 and has retained it every year since.
