Education

Fawood Children's Centre, Harlesden

This awarding winning, innovatively design & constructed nursery forms an integral part of the regeneration of Stonebridge Park in Harlesden, Brent.The completed nursery provides a single sheltered and secure area, with the roof covering extended to cover external play areas and circulation between these two spaces. The completed structure using refurbished sea containers and includes a traditional Mongolian yurt. More information here

 

Tavistock Place, London
The original building dates from the late 19th Century, with an additional floor and the left side wing added in the 1960s. The building comprises 3432m² of accommodation, which was retained, and a rear three-storey extension constructed to accommodate a new lift and to improve internal circulation. Tonbridge Grammar School, Tonbridge
The Governors of Tonbridge Grammar School commissioned calfordseaden as employer's agent, quantity surveyor and CDM co-ordinator in the procurement and construction of a new teaching block and sports hall, plus remodelling of the existing school. More information here

 

Khalsa Primary School, Southall
calfordseaden are acting as client representative and contract administrator on behalf of the Trustees and Executive Committee of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (SGSS). The project is currently on site and is due to receive pupils in September 2010, offering Primary school and nursery places. Norwood Hall, a Grade II listed building, is being refurbished to provide opportunities for community activities. More information here


Barts and The London Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry, Whitechapel

calfordseaden health & safety acted as health & safety adviser on this new £45 million medical school, which is one of a kind in both the uniqueness of the building and the purpose it serves. The school is divided into six institutions; Institute of Cancer, Institute of Cell and Molecular Science, Institute of Health Sciences Educations, Institute of Dentistry, William Harvey Research Institute and Wolfson Institute of Preventative Medicine. Sure Start Initiative, Birmingham

Our Birmingham Architectural team were appointed by Turner & Townsend Project Management, on behalf of Birmingham City Council to develop various projects under the Sure Start Initiative. The schemes comprised the extension or refurbishment of existing facilities through to new build on six separate educational sites. More information here

 

Hayes School, Bromley

calfordseaden's architects are working with Hayes School to establish a master plan to develop a new campus for 21st century learning. Set in urban open land on a sloping green and wooded campus adjacent to the conservation area of Hayes Village, the school already has an excellent reputation for educational and sporting prowess and is looking to further enhance its facilities given the everchanging curriculum and teaching methods.
