Working across the diverse community
and voluntary sector

calfordseaden works with many third sector based organisations, such as voluntary and community organisations, charities, social enterprises, cooperatives and mutuals. Our work with such organisations may be as part of a wider community regeneration scheme, through our work with housing providers or with such organisations directly. In recent years we have delivered various schemes across the community & voluntary sector. This has included working across the world, in notorious conflict zones, on behalf of the NAAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes), a 'Not for Profit' organisation created in 1921. Its sole purpose is to support the British Armed Forces and their families, especially where they are deployed on the front line or posted overseas. It aims to provide convenience and a taste of home; supplying a wide range of services including catering, retail, leisure and facilities management.

Our Winchester office has recently completed an exciting project for the charitable foundation Emmaus Hampshire Community, part of the Emmaus UK Federation. The Federation is a well-known and respected charitable trust, whose patron is the HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and supported by Terry Waite and the late Dame Anita Roddick.

As part of the regeneration of Bermondsey Spa in South East London, we have project managed the development works at Salmon Youth Centre, the largest youth centre in the country that is seen as a blueprint for delivering youth services in the future. Our work in the community and voluntary sector also see us working for charities such as Barts and the London Charity and The Salvation Army.

Our work with community based organisations see us working on some of the country's more diverse projects, such as the Siri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Gravesend, Kent. Designed by calfordseaden's architects, the brief was to design a building immediately identifiable as a Gurdwara, but which also meets the needs of the modern Sikh community. The building will also act as a Gravesend landmark to symbolise the achievement of the local Sikhs and the relationships forged within Gravesend and the surrounding areas.

Further details on these socially enterprising schemes are included below.
