Holistic approach to architectural design and sustainability

calfordseaden's architects and master planners enjoy working within a multi disciplinary environment where the skills and input of other professionals, including civil & structural and mechanical & electrical designers, contributes to a holistic approach to design and sustainability.

As designers we have faced up to the challenges of sustainability and the ever-changing world in which we work. Our team has developed and grown to react to these new challenges and now has architects, master planners, town planners, urban designers, and conservation architects.

Our projects cover housing, extra care housing, regeneration, healthcare, education, commercial & industrial, community & leisure and retail buildings. We have clients with whom we have worked with for nearly 20 years and are on numerous public body frameworks. We give our clients long-term value and encourage the use of passive measures to create practical and highly sustainable buildings.

We are strong advocates of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and of the benefits that this can bring to an entire project team and stakeholders. This 3D modelling system allows everyone working on a building project to

bi-directionally share the same data, rather than each discipline replicating the information from scratch. The calfordseaden design teams have always offered a coordinated approach to projects, but by working with our multi-disciplinary team in BIM we can push these benefits even further.

Some of our projects

Magna Park, Lutterworth

calfordseaden were appointed by Nippon Express (UK) Limited to provide architectural and project coordination services for a £3.9 million extension to their existing Midlands distribution centre. More information here

Diagnostic Clinic, Clapton Common

Our London architects obtained planning approval for a private diagnostic clinic in a late Victorian, end of terrace house in north London. Once completed, this clinic will include MRI & CAT scanning facilities, and other state of the art medical technology and consultation rooms for seven doctors & consultants. More information here

Glebe Road, Stratford

Our Birmingham architects were appointed to redevelop an existing site of 38 Unity Houses built in 1947, set within an existing residential estate on the edge of Stratford Upon Avon. Structural surveys and cost exercises established that due to corrosion within the precast concrete frames of the houses, refurbishment of the properties was no longer financially viable.
