Arbury Park, Cambridge

Arbury Park is part of a ten-year project that will see 900 homes built on a site to the North of Cambridge.  calfordseaden's architects have designed on behalf of Places for people the 282 affordable homes, as well as a local centre of shops, offices and business units for Gallagher Estates.

Places for People are providing the affordable homes in partnership with Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association, Papworth Trust, King's Street Housing Trust, South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council.

Of the 282 homes provided by the group, 126 are being built for shared ownership and the remaining 156 for affordable rent.  20% of the shared ownership homes will be made available to local key workers.

The rented and shared ownership dwellings on Arbury Park have been designed in a range of styles to accord with the detailed design guide to Eco Homes 'Very Good' standard and incorporate a range of sustainable energy technologies, such as combined heat and power, biomass and ground source heat pumps.

Residents of these new homes will benefit from a greener, more energy efficient lifestyle through these technologies.  For example, they will provide a cleaner method of heating than conventional systems and are expected to significantly reduce residents' energy bills.

The Arbury Park development will provide a contemporary, attractive and vibrant new Cambridge neighbourhood.  Located on the northern fringe of the city, close to Cambridge Regional College and the Science Park.  The mixed-use development will deliver much needed housing, with 900 new homes, including a high percentage of affordable housing, as well as employment opportunities, a primary school and new community facilities.
